Battery > Positive or negative ground for 67 base motor?

I'm assuming this is a negative ground. To charge the battery,
connect red battery charger clamp to + post.
connect black battery charger clamp to (-) to engine block
Is this correct?

You are correct. All Corvettes are negative ground.
