I have noticed that cranking is a bit slower... or I just don't drive the car as much, anyway, the battery is stock and I bought an 85 month MTP 75 and in reading the Mechanic Manuals, it reads I should be careful with the SID system. What I can tell this is the air bag stuff... I know I have to record the radio presets and know the security code, have the lights off but will I set off the airbag stuff??

Just disconnect the battery and change it. You don't need to do rest of that crap. Make sure to get the right battery or you'll be asking for problems with a C5. Get a Delco Professional from a GM dealer, you won't be sorry!!

I'd agree with BigJim, go with the Delco Professional, or at least get a replacement that has the same specs......don't go with what the battery dealers say is the right battery, the specs aren't there for the majority.

700CCA 120RC minimum

Replacement Battery

I have always been told to buy a replacement battery that is one size bigger (in cold cranking amps) than the one you take out. This is based on the age of the electrical system and the increased resistance within the wires, bulbs and ect. Just slightly better, not necessarily bigger. I have a Optima Red top in my 2003 . it has 720 CCA and that is slightly stronger than the AC Delco stock battery I took out.:w
