A couple of days ago while standing on the corner watching all the girls go by a C5 Z06 drove up to the corner red light and then accelerated away. Absolutely the finest pipes I have ever heard and I have been around a long time. Of course I couldn't talk to the driver but a friend next to me thinks the mufflers were Monza. This thing sounded like an Indy car.

Does anyone have any recommendations for great sounding pipes. I know this question is ambigious and subjective but any suggestion will be appreciated.

Keep the wave!!

The two best known manufacturers of after-market exhaust systems are Corso and Borla. I have Borlas on my Z06, and they sound pretty nice (IMHO). I think if you do a search, you can actually find sites (either the main manufacturer site, or installer sites) that have audio clips you can listen to to actually hear what the exhaust systems sound like. (At least, they used to...)

I did a search for "monza exhaust" and came up with this site.

I might usggest you give them a call and see what they tell you.

I had a set of monza pipes on my old 1978 before I put side pipes on it. I liked it. It sounded pretty tough. Much better than glass packs.

About three years ago Mid-America offered a CD that had recording of stock C5's and all the aftermarket systems which they offered. I bought one.

Since the Corsa and Borla systems were the only all stainless, I dismissed the others.

The loudest system was the Corsa Indy. But after much listening and soul searching, I decided that both the Corsa and Borla systems made a C5 sound like an old F-150. We have lots of those around here.

Since my wife instigated this search because she thought that the C5 didn't 'sound' as 'bad' as it was, I left the CD in the in-dash player with instructions to her to turn up the volume when she wanted to sound 'bad'.

Performance is one thing, but simply installing straight pipes is quite another. Perhaps I am afflicted with the AGE syndronym, but noise doesn't excite me the way it did 40 years ago.
