Best place for aftermarket wheels/tires

If anyone put aftermarket wheels on your car, where ist ehbest place to buy for price/selection? I want to put 17x9.5 Chrome ZR-1 rims on my 87. Is there a wheel out there that will fit without the adapters?

The rims AFS sells are not A-molds. A-molds are the stock GM wheel. They are a lighter rim which is what helps keep the resale value of true GM wheels higher.

AFS is a good place to order from, now that they have an inventory once again. They make a set of rims that is a true bolt on for the 84-87 offset. No spacers or adapters needed

AFS is great to do business with IMO. I bought a set from them last summerfor my 94, got a great deal people were super nice.
I don't know how anal you are -lol but
ask if they have any blemished wheels for sale, they usually do and you can save a decent sum of money.
I was skeptical and wanted to see exactly what the blemishes were so the folks there were nice enough to send me pictures via email of the blemished wheels before I bought them. The one or 2 blemishes on the wheels I got were tiny specs the size of the tip of a pencil. I'm pretty anal about the appearance of my car and I'll tell you it was more than acceptable to save over $35 per wheel.

I bought a great set of 17" Epsilons, with new rubber for a steal. They were takeoffs at a high-quality Corvette specialist.

I've been happy with Tire Rack, too, but find lately, that local shops are as inexpensive.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it appears that The Tire Rack only has a couple of very expensive rims to fit my car. I don't want to seem cheap, but 500-plus per wheel is too rich for my blood, especially when I have to buy tires at the same time. Am I just looking in the wrong place? www.afswheels.com has wheels that fit your car directly with no need for spacers. They will also mount and balance a set of Dunlop SP8000's 275/40/17 and ship them to you. Cost is around 1,500

Basically rims 950 + tires (188x4) 752 + mounting 40 = 1742

AFS is really giving you a heck of a discount.

You can contact them direct and speak with Lynn or Dave. Two of the nicest people you ever want to do business with. If you don't get too wild (which you can't on a stock body C4, ie, 12" hoops), then you will be able to get a set made up and shipped in a short period of time with your choice of rubber.

Any of the rims you see on their site will be made to fit the C4 offset. Also, they do something really trick. They put the valvestem on the back side of the spokes of the rim so you no longer have to clean and polish around it.

followup to aftermarket wheels question

Just in case anyone is interested, here is the response I got from The Tire Rack on Corvette knockoff rims:

"I do appreciate the recommendations of your friends, but unfortunately we
don't have any of the Corvette "knock offs" or the original wheels. Our
wheel manufacturers simply haven't taken on those measurements required for
your car. I will tell you, we are planning to get a couple new fitments
that should show up in late Jan or early Feb, but until then, we only have
the BBS wheels you saw. The new wheels we're getting won't be a Corvette
replica, but they will be nice wheels, more so lightweight than "Corvette
looking."

Tire rack those guys are good for rubber but unless your knee deep in coin forget
about getting rims for the vette. look in some of the vette mags or car forsale mags they have what your looking for.
