Best way to change gear ratios?

I have a '94 coupe with the A4 auto and 2.59 gears in a Dana36 rear. I'd like to go to at least 3.07's (not sure I can go further with a 2 series carrier). My question is this: What's the best way to do this? I've looked at aftermarket ring and pinion providers...and most of the listings start at 3.54's.

You might want to look at getting the complete assembly from a 6 speed . On the 90 they came standard with a 3.33 which would not be to far off of what you want. It would effect your economy some.Also that would give you the Dana 44. I can't find what the standard ratio was on the 94.I think the axles would have to be changed with the differential.

Only need to swap the batwing complete with diff head.
All else is the same.
Best / cheapest option is to find a D36 3.07 diff head
or batwing w/ head.
3.07 was performance option for auto cars.

Agreed. My problem has been findng the carrier with the ring and pinion installed that doesn't already have 150,000 miles on it. Since it was the performance rear option...I thought it would be easy to find....not so far. I've got the local GM dealer putting together a quote for ring and pinion and gear change. It will probably be a bundle.
