I've got an '85 Coupe. High miles. First Red car ever. I punched it leaving my Sons house and it's been running rough since.:-)

Welcome. Nice looking car. Let the troubleshooting begin. Old fuel filter?

catbert, would that cause the check engine light to come on too. I had the EGR valve replaced and the (I think) the throttle control sensor
as they said it had broken when I punched it. The cruise control worked until those repairs were done and doesn't now.

The sensor broke when you punched it.......that doesn't sound right, but I'm not a tech. Maybe C4c5Specialist will see this and comment. Paul, are you out there?

I'm originally from Beaumont. Texas. Plan on heading back that way in August, permanently. Getting married to the love
of my life, praise the Lord. She is from Nacodoches, Texas, and that will be home.

The kid that did the work yesterday (EGR Valve and ******something that he said broke that was plastic) had disconnected
one of the battery cables and may have blown a fuse. Would that cause the Check Engine light to stay on.?

Welcome to the CAC, Billy Bob!!

Welcome Aboard. . . . . . Glad you found us.

Welcome to Corvette Action Center Billy Bob. . . . A blown fuse could cause the check engine light to come on. I was checking my AC here while back and pulled a fuse while it was running to make sure it was the right fuse, pulled the wrong one the engine died when I started it back up the engine had went into low power mode and check engine light was on. I limped it back in the garage, took the positve battery cable off and stuck it back on, the check engine light went off and full power was restored ;shrug Beats me but knock on wood been running alright ever since then.

Maybe you need to address this in the C-5 section where more may chime in on your issue.

The reason there have been so few responses is probably due to folks laughing so hard they can't see to type with their eyes watering.
Last night I looked into the Owners Manual and looked at the list of fuses. When he removed the battery cable and then replaced it that
very same thing could have happened. I knew there were lots of fuses and can see where the Cruise Control and many other components
could fail. Looks like it's fuse checking time.:-)

Thanks Hoosier Daddy. Makes all the sense in the world.

Black rocks. . . . . . . . . Not mine.

I've heard and read all Corvetes are RED and RED sells better than any other color but not to me, never had any vehcile red unless you count my little RED WAGON from True Value Hardware, still have that little red wagon by the way:L

First Red one for me. I really liked it the first time I saw it. Drove from KC to Iowa and trailered it back. Talked about getting a Vette for
40 years, and while it's not the top rated year I'm happy with it.

Hang on to that little Red Wagon. :-)

That little RED WAGON has to be 50 plus years old :duh

A friend is picking up 2 sets of fuses on his way here today, 8/2/13. Thanks for your input.
