Bird cage rust

A good friend of mine has a 65 coupe (original owner) The bird cage is in pretty good condition except this one area, Can it be fixed? Thank you

Yeah, that can be fixed if the metal around it is in good condition (i.e. thick enough). However make absolutely sure that is the only place you have to repair. I bet you may have more damage by the looks of that. Make sure you check the bottom of the lock and hinge pillars where they meet the "C-rail". Also, the particular area in the picture is notorious for rusting from the inside out, poke all around the windshield frame with a smal punch and make sure it's in sound shape. What ever you do, make sure you use some rust prevention/encapsulation method on the inside of the windshield frame. I used POR15 and CorrosionX when I did my birdcage repairs.

PS - this is NOT going to be a fun job!
