I get a lot of black carbon on my outside exhaust tips . The ones that have the valves that open or close. I keep them open all the time and wonder if this could cause it or maybe I have too rich of a fuel mixture. :confused

The answer (believe it or ot).

Get out your polishing stuff clean off most of the black then spray them with 'Oven Off'. Let it sit for a few minutes then wipe off and all the black comes off. Now polish away.

The only way you will know for sure is to put it back the way it was, clean the tips, and see if it changes.

You are not running too rich or your check engine light would be on. Good luck with it. :)
