I need a black PF 25 for a resto project that I am doing on an 88. does anyone have one for sale? Please advise.Tom

Just an idea. But as a fellow appreciator of a black oil filter (they were factory on my car), you can paint a regular filter black.

Also Mobil 1's filters are apparently now black instead of grey.

Just a thought if you don't have to have a factory black one. :)

I'd painted this one from grey to black:

I don't know what all years had black. I have a NCRS judging manual for my 88 and it states that it is a black filter with a silver label. So I know that 87-89 had a black filter. I have checked e-bay and never see any on there. The G.M. # is 6438261.All help will be appreciated. TLS

I had somebody bring this subject up before and as an original owner of a 1989 Corvette, I do not recall my filter being black.

I was the first person to change the oil in my car - I remember how dang tight that filer was :eek I also believe it was blue...

Could the NCRS have it wrong?? Just asking :m

According to what I have found out the black one's were factory installed. They were used from 87-91. From what I understand they were never sold over the counter.I think I have found an outlet for the decal, so the black paint is no problem. Thanks to all that helped. TLS

The decal is silver with black letters.I think I have found a place to get a repop. I am going to try it and will let you know how it works out. TLS

I have found a source for the decal's. when I recieve them I will let everyone know. TLS

I did a couple of "first" oil changes on some 91's when I was at the dealer, and indeed the factory filter was black. The replacement was the tried and true PF25 in blue.

...could be mine was changed prior to delivery - but I cannot see why. Or, my memmory is only 1/2 as good as I thought it was - Thanks :m

I don't have any pictures to post but I have 3 decal's that are identical to the originals. I am willing to sell 1 or 2 of them. I want $20.00 a piece for them.TLS

The WalMart house brand filter is black. The label is easily removed. :w

You can use an Origonal blue one paint it satin black, or NAPA has one that is very close, just paint it black. The filter is not a problem. TLS

I sold the decals that I had, but I might be able to get more if there is any interest. Let me know and I will see what I can do.. TLS
