Blower fan for defrost won't turn in 1976 corvette

I didn't replace the master switch, just the speed switch. These parts are priced fairly cheap, but I just want to make sure just what parts I need to get the blower motor working again at the switches. I wouldn't doubt it is a bad blower motor, since it looks original and being 38 years old. I don't have a volt meter, but it would be wise to pick one up! Since I don't have a volt meter, are there any other ways of troubleshooting to help pinpoint the problem.

There are some other thing that could be checked. If you have air conditioning you could check to see if the compressor clutch is engaging. This would tell you if the master switch is working and getting power. But a volt meter would be the only way to confirm the what is faulty. Wouldn't be surprised if you have two faults since you lost high speed, the the others.

I can rule out the air conditioning since the previous owner removed the original L48 350sbc to install a bigger engine (400sbc). I have a new volt meter lined up, and should get it shortly. The control panel where the high speed switch and thumb rollers are located, I inspected underneath the thumb rollers and everything looks good. The wiring, connections all look clean, no corrosion from what I can see. The panel worked just fine until I got no power to the blower motor over a week ago. Is one of the thumb rollers the master switch for the blower motor? Once I get the volt meter, I think I can speed up the process in finding the source of the problem and make the necessary repair.

Did it have Air con before the engine swap?

Yes, it was a factory AC car. The only parts remaining of the AC system are the AC housing on the firewall and the condenser. The AC compressor, pulley and support brackets was given to me in a box when I purchased the car. I asked why wasn't the AC re-installed, his reply was the AC compressor locked up and didn't want to deal with it. At least I have the parts if I decide to put the AC back in the car.

Ok just making sure. Once the volt meter arrives you should be able to find the problem easily.
Once I have the meter, I should find it quickly. Probably just something simple that I can't seem to find now, but as I said, most likely the blower motor gone bad, as it was blowing very weak before the problem started. Thanks again

Success! All fan speeds work and blower motor works as it should! Problem was a bad ground under the dash! Thanks for all your help, and for the schematic! Thanks again! :)
