OK, I know I could post this in one of the tech sections but I'm about as up to speed on the advantages/disadvantages of the different types of blowers - roots, centrifugal, etc - as one can be and not be enrolled in Our Lady of Perpetual Motion's School of Mechanical Engineering (Mark Richman, Dean of Social Encounters). I've read articles which discuss adiabatic efficiency (which is defined as a ratio of adiabatic power and the actual power) until the cows came home :W .

I know lots of stuff about blowers now. I know that a roots type blower has the least adiabatic efficiency but it does not heat up the intake charge as would a centrifugal supercharger. I now know lots of stuff that I'll forget by tomorrow :m . For the time being, I could EVEN have an intelligent discussion with JohnZ ;worship and marvel at the time/volume relationships of various compressor function maps. I NEED to get RID of the VOICES!!!:hb

So, I'll take my question to the C1C2 crowd. OK, I've settled on the Vortech SBC carburated setup, mostly because it will all fit under the hood without having to go to the "outlaw" hood popular at the friday night races :ugh

I know I should run an intercooler but that will wait.

Anyone have any experience in dealing with the outfit called superchargers4less?

BTW, I already swapped out my radiator support for another, original fuelie support that came from a '65 roadster just a few days older than my roadster. I know the intake charge has to be as cool as possible. :cool

Ok ..Since I have experience with the Vortec centrifugal on my 86 (SOLD)..I will give my.."Dean Of Social Encounter' Opinion.

Forget about inter cooling... I myself doubt that there will be that much HP Loss in the normal drive around Ocean City After A Few Mart-Tun-Ies Jaunt.

If you really are concerened about cooling the Air down..Look into Carroll SuperCharger "Gaseous Intercooling " System (Alcahol Water Injection) Far superior to Air Intercooling Exchagers...Plus there's no Skyscraper Plumbing and gack running all over the engine compartment.

The Vortec is the way to go. I ran one for 8 years on my 86 with no problems.Keep in mind that an oil supply line will have to feed the Vortec and then there will be an exit line that flows thru a filter back into the oil pan.

You will have to remove the oil pan and drill a hole and then weld in a Threaded Bung for the return line. No big deal. The Return line oil filter is good for about 30K miles and then should be changed. This prevents any gack from the Vortec from entering your Motor oil supply.

The amount of heat that the Vortec will produce in a compressed situation is nill IMHO. Don't forget... When the Throttle plate is closed pressure builds up and the intake temp will rise. But at the moment of WOT the air will rapidly cool due to the Hi Flow of air at WOT.

So Dream away Blower Boy... Your only a Credit Card away from all of the work and..:hb Fun to come. Of course John and I are here to help if you should need it...And.................................You'll need it.;help

Kid, VNV ( Mark ) is right on with all of his comments, except for the carb thing. You will have to replace your carb for a " Blower " carb if you want to run the Vortech correctly. In the absence of a replacement carb, you will need to have an airtight box constructed around the carb to keep the pressure from screwing with your fuel system.

the "kid" here.....

..thanks stepinwolf...as i understand the vortech kit, it includes a completely sealed box for the carb, requiring the use of a holley 4150 (i have two, one a 650 and the other a 750)....according to what i read in the instructions for the vortech kit, it does not seem to require a supercharger carb but i am concerned that you may be correct so i will check...it seems to me that a true supercharger carb sitting on top of a roots-style blower, for example, utilitizes a boost-referenced power valve/primary system (makes sense because the relative pressure before-and-after venturis would be substantially different than design conditions) which may not be needed if the ENTIRE carb is pressurized as in the vortech system....not sure but i will check
