This is embarrassing... Bought a new set of high-output halogens to replace the dim junk that came with my car, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to take the old lights out. My Haynes talks about turning on the lights and removing two screws in front and one on each side. The only screws I can see in front are what looks like the alignment adjusters, and I can't get to the side screws with the lights open OR closed.

Let me guess - I have to turn the lights on and disconnect the battery really quick in order to make the lights rotate half way and expose the screws?

I've done headlamps in probably 6 or 7 different vehicles, both capsule and sealed, and this is the only one that's stumped me...
Thanks.

Hey Rich....

No problem man....just follow the wires from each light down to where you come to a set ofconnectors, one is for the light the other is for the motor, unplug both of them. Then there is a light colored knob at the end of each motor that you can turn to rotate the housing. Turn the knob until you see the screws on the side of the headlight cover. Undo them, then inside you will find 2 more then the cover will come off.Surrounding the light itself is a stainless steel bracket holding the bulb in place, remove the four screws and the bulb is now loose, carefully extract the bulb until you can remove the connecter on the rear of the bulb...
There you go man...nice and easy.

Eagle, you're a great help ;worship. The directions were spot-on, and I *never* would have found that manual knob on my own. Lights are done, and MUCH brighter.

And I also know the origins of those odd chips in the headlight area of the hood... the four side screws were ALL DIFFERENT (two were nuts and bolts??!!!??) and three of them were marginally too big to fit - scrape!

Thanks again....
