Body remounting sets 1.5-2.0 inches too high

I had a 73 fire damaged Stingray totally rebuilt from frame up. Engine, tranny, rear-end totally redone. Original rear spings were reinstalled. New shocks etc etc. I took the body from a 2nd 73 Vette and now when I set it onto this new frame it sits up about 1.5-2.0 inches around the entire frame. The body rests on the front mountings and under the cage on the 2 mountings but it's too high. The rear frame sits about 1/2 in above the bushing. The entire body is off the same 1.5-2.0 height all around the frame. The new front mountings were not welded too high. We needed to weld an insert under the cage because of the rust but that was maybe 3/16 of an inch. The insert was from Paragon so it was a Corvette replacement part. It looks like the bushings are too thick but that doesn't make sense. Any ideas?

Did you use poly body mount bushings or rubber? Did you insert any shims with the bushings? Any photos?

Is it sitting too high before or after torquing down the mounts?

What is it contacting to hold it up those two inches?

I have the exact same problem on mine and its driving me nuts. I can't see anything that is holding it up. Could it be that the old mounts were so rotten and flat? And now the new mounts (I'm using rubber) are hard and not so compressed?

When the 73 came out it was very noticable that it was sitting much higher. The 63 to 72 used aluminum biscuits and the 73 used rubber cushons hence the height difference. If you used the OEM replacement cushons your OK.
