OK, new problem (for me). I have a couple of body mount bolts that are spinning around without coming out. The encapsulated nuts are spinning with the bolts. I know I'm not the first one to have this problem. How do I get them out?

Second question.... I can only find 10 body bolts in my 64 Vert. 2 in front of firewall, 1 under each sill, 2 behind the seats in the middle, 1 each in the covered hole in the fenderwell, and 1 on each side of the gas tank area. The ones that seem to be missing are the ones that would be behind the seats near the outside edges or the floor. My car is an early 64. There are no holes or anything.

I just took off my 63. The only other mounts are in front at the radiator. Which bolts are spinning.

I believe that the location is the same as a 1965. You should have two at the radiator, two just in front of the firewall, two under door sill towards the front of the door opening, two that secure a cable at the center of the body (behind seats), two at the front of the kick ups behind the metal plates in the rear wheel wells, two just behind the springs for the convertible hatch lid, and two at the very rear of the car. I sprayed mine with penetrating oil daily for over two weeks prior to attempting removal. I had trouble with the front two and the two behind the springs. I used a large flat screwdriver wedged between the cage and the square nuts for the front. The spot weld on the two behind the hatch springs broke and the nut retainer came off. I used locking pliers on the square nuts. I also used an impact wrench starting with a low setting and increasing setting as the nut started to break loose.

Good luck

So far the spinning bolts are the drivers side door sill (#2 body mount), Drivers side at the kickup (#3 body mount), and drivers side behind the spring (#4 body mount). I was able to remove the pass side #3 & #4 bolts without a problem. I resoaked the rest a I'll let them sit a few days.

I sent you an CAC email!

Woo-Hoo.... Finally got all the bolts out. Didn't have to cut anything. Once I took the sidepipes off, I could see the captive nuts and was able to get a pair of vise grips on them. The cage had rusted off the #2 mount nuts on both sides. The driver's side #4 mount is still spinning, but the mount on the frame is rusted enough for the bolt head to pull through.
By the looks of everything, I may have to replace the entire back half of the frame. Dr Rebuild sells a back half from the transmission crossmember back for about $2300. Looks like that's the direction I'll be going. The front half of the frame looks brand new????.
Everything is unbolted and triple checked, so as soon as I get my body lift slings from LIC, off comes the body. Hopefully before the end of next week.
