What do I need to use to install new skin for my fender? The local bodyshop wants me to buy their $35 a tube adhesive. :r Is there a less expesive route anyone had used before? The original stuff that was there after I cut the old damaged fender off looks and grinds off like bondo. Thanks,

What ever you do. I suggest you get the right stuff. Pay a Little more. Avoid rivit or joint popups later. Corvette fiberglass is made a little different then other cars.

If you want it to appear original, Corvette Image has the correct color bonding material. Buy an inexpensive cake icing kit and put the mixture in that and squeeze it onto the surfaces you want to bond. It will squish out and look original as long as you do it sloppily enough. :) Use clamps instead of screws if you can.

I would not try to use bondo as it might not have the correct shrink or bonding strength that actual bonding material does. The bonding material that I've used sands much harder than bondo.

corvetteimage.com is their website, but it must be down right now.
Good luck

I went ahead and ordered the Eckler's bonding adhesive from Zip. (Zip was the same price, with less shipping) Eckler's wesite did explain that it is the correct adhesive up to 73 cause the body material changed to something other than that typ of fiberglass. I thank you all for the advise!:) Corvette Image website won't work for me either. Thanks again,
