I just traded my 1998 A4 on a 2001 6 speed. Part of the deal was that my Borla's came off the 98 and onto the 01.
On the 98 A4, the exhaust was loud but good, every one knew when you went to WOT. At 1500 rpm or so, there was a bad resonance in the car that I lived with.
Same system moved to the 01 6 speed. At all times, the system is not as loud. WOT doesn't have the same snapping roar to it. The resonance is almost non-existant. Bit of a buzz around 1500 rpm but nothing like in the 98 A4.
What gives? Different cats?? Better sound insulation? Why the difference?
Ron ... :confused
