I am in the process of restoring my 86 back to the original Bose system, I know lots of you think I'm nuts but I want the original look. I believe I have all the parts, radio, front and rear speakers and just in case the speaker relay. Now my first problem, having never seen the rear speakers installed, how do those big speaker boxes mount? I pulled the grill and the after market speaker. The speaker was screwed to a plastic speaker mount bracket that my parts book says is part#14057547 it has an oval shaped opening that looks like you could intsall a coaxial type speaker. How does the bose speaker box attach? It does not appear that the box would even fit in the cavity. Thanks in advance.

I don't recall the configuration of the opening, but there are four screws (1/4" nut driver) that you take out and the "box" comes out. when you reinstall the speakers make sure you get them on the right sides. The speaker should face slightly towrd the fron tof the car.

I figured out the box goes in first and then the plate goes on top and bolts to the box and to the frame. They go in and up into the cavity. I got it all working by yesterday. I got to be honest, no one in there right mind would pay $895. for this option now.
