I have an 84' with the original Bose sound system in it (minus the orig. tape deck)
Over the past 2 years I've had this little quirk with it that has turned into a big one the last month or so, Hope someone here can help.
Up to acouple months ago the radio/cd played fine but would cut out from time to time(power still to the deck, all lights on except no sound), a quick cycle on and off and back on again would bring the sound back on.
Now that little trick isn't working. In fact the only time I can get anysound out of it is when I first start her in the morn. but after I turn the radio off and then restart, nothing.

The radio is good, I've tried it in anought car.

The only thing I can think of is that theres a relay somewhere? to power the amps?(my understanding is that each speaker has it's own amp, correct me if I'm wrong)

Anything would help
Weather is too nice not to have any tunes!

Thanks

Just went out and pulled the speaker cover off one of the Rear speakers, found the connector and hooked up an old speaker by touching the wires inside to the cars speaker wires and I've got sound.

When I was changing out the bose in my 86 the wiring diagram showed a power relay for the speakers but did not give a good idea of where it was located maybe someone else will be able to jump in. I went with a stock 99 gm radio and some aftermarket speakers in my car and been well pleased. Good luck:w

Just got done putting a nice set of after market speakers in the rear and am very pleased.

By any chance to you remember what size speaker you installed in the door?

I Still would love to know where that power relay is, just in case :-)

Thanks for the help so far

if you have heard of a place called crutchfield(.com)

you can put in your car and they will tell you what fits and it the speaker you want isn't an exact fit but smaller they provide the template to make it fit for free. and the speakers come with instructions on how to install them look around on their site it is the best I have ever seen

I think I used 6x9 rear and 3x5 in the doors. You have to watch mounting the door speakers because the grill dip in in the center and it gets kind of tight. I will keep looking for that relay location.:w Charlie

Thanks for all the help.
No sound system was really starting to drive me nutz.
