Hello! I have an 85 Z51 that I have had well over 10 years now. I've began to notice the rear end is leaking on the exhaust and found that the bottom bolt is stripped.

The treads in the aluminum seem to be gone, does anyone have an idea as to how I can fix this? I would prefer leaving it in the car but if I have to take it out I suppose it could be arranged!

Thanks in advance!

I would put a helicoil in it . It's easy and very strong . Plus you could do it in place for probably about ten bucks including the tap . Cliff

I may try the helicoil route and see what happens.

I replaced the rear gears 6 years ago and it hasn't leaked till now. I noticed that single bolt is the culprit.
