That’s sad... and the first ZR-1 that I’ve seen that’s in need of “restoration”. :bang

can anyone translate the listing?

Is the car bright red, with bad pictures, or Dark red? the reason I ask is the interior looks like burgundy?

The listing indicates the color as: ROT, which is translated as RED. With all of the other issues, I don't know or care if its bright or dark. KNow what I mean. (I didn't mean that as nasty)

Gotcha... I was curious if it was some super-rare dark-red / dark-red ZR1 :)

Can’t translate the copy, but a picture is worth a thousand words...

Maybe it was Red--but now I'd describe it as Pink. Amazing what 14 years out in the sun will do. I can't imagine what that green stuff is on the paint.

RIP ZR1

Project Car

My German friend here at work (a lady who is not a car junkie) basically translated it as a project car, when built in 1990 it was the fastest production car, 1500 cars produced that year. It has a good interior, but a cracked windshield, sold new for 164,500 Deutsch marks, or 83,000 Euro Dollars. It has about 57,000 miles on it. And something about his garden is going to eat it. It's selling for 5,250 Euro now, about $7K US. It's in Hamburg, Germany.

Too weird. How could anyone let that go like that? Gee.

Rick

Your friend is basically correct with the translation, but it does state: Engine last run 4 years ago and only a DIY Project car.. He is scared it would be 'eaten up by the grass in the garden' and wants to get it to a new home for it to go back on the road. But makes no guarantees.. Sold as is.. And the green looks like it was overgrown with grass/brush and he cut it back for the pic.. YIKES>.

WTF? I can hardly wait for winter to be over to drive my cars again... how could you let it sit that long??? OMG :ugh

If I ever let my 1990 ZR1 Bright Red Baby get like that, just shoot me! It means that I must be in a coma or some other vegetative state and need to be put out of my misery anyway!

The green color is moss, so that tells you it has been there for a pretty long time. It looks like it was left in a swamp to boot. As far as original color goes, I am assuming it is the bright red because he/she states that only 1500 units were made. In 1990 there were a total of 3049 units made with a little over 1500 of them bright red. It would be even worse of a shame if it was the rare metallic red color!

What a poor ZR-1, I really feel sorry for it.:cry I hope someone purchases it and fixes it up. :w

Now there's a fixer uper for you! It will probably be the first ZR-1 that hasn't been totaled that needs a frame off resto. I wounder if the car would be worth buying for parts? I wounder what the story is behind that car? Man that sure is a shame to let that happen to a vette. Tom.

I feel the same way. However, everyone close to me knows how I feel about my ZR and I don't think they'd let it go like that for fear of my promise: if I die, and that car lands in the hands of someone who won't take care of it, I'll come back and haunt the hell out of them. The Amityville Horror and "Christine" ain't got nothin' on me! :L

Also, the color of the paint on that ZR-1 is Dark Red Metallic. I'm almost positive it's not Bright Red.

I thought the same thing about it being Dark Red Metallic, until I saw the door jams. That looks like bright red to me. Also, he did say it was 1 out of 1500 cars, so it wouldn't/shouldn't be the Dark Red Metallic. He could be wrong about that, since he apparently didn't know anything about how to properly take care of a high preformance classic car. He didn't even try to blow the leaves off the engine area before he took the photo. I was a little surprised he got over $13k for it.
