Beginning in 1995 all 'vettes got the discs and pads from the ZR1. I have noticed large amounts of brake dust on my wheels even when I don't drive the car that much. I am constantly wiping the rims to keep their shine. Anyone else notice this? Could it just be that some crappy aftermarket pads were put on the car?

The brakes on my "95" are original ( OEM).
I get some dust on the rear wheels, but not much. Seems to be pretty common among all cars.................A pain to clean, but whatta ya gonna do!:w

What are you going to do???

Do like I did...get some good pads. I switched to Raybestoes Pro pads and said goodbye to dust. I even took the clear coat off the stock rims and polished the aluminum...they still shine like new ones....front and rear. The pads made a big difference...in stopping power and looks. They cost a bit more but well worth it...

when i got my car the guy who owned it had installed those Kleen Wheel things. I hardly ever have to SCRUB the wheels-just a quick once over when i wash the car :w dennis

It's not that the wheels are hard to clean, but that there is just an extreme amount of dust on the wheels for the short drive. It's just a PITA to whipe them all the time. I may look at some different pads but I've got other things to adress first.

Leon-

I have a '95 as well. Get moderate "red" dust on rears after short drive. Fronts hardly ever show anything. Would one not think that the front pads would work harder than the rears?

Yep, usually after about 25-30 miles, I get some amount of brake dust on the rear wheels. Hardly noticible amount on the fronts.

I believe I bought my pads from NAPA....they are Raybestos PG Plus...or Professional Grade...semi metallic no asbestos. Not sure if Auto Zone carries them....but could probably order them for you.
