I'm a newbie, just bought a 65 sb conv wht/blu leather from a family friend that has owned it for 21 yrs. He also gave me the number of the original owner that he got it from for a piece of land. I haven't seen the car in 10 yrs and bought it over the phone, for $20K I couldn't pass it up. The car is mostly all original and well taken care of. The owner mentioned one thing I should keep my eye on and any help is appreciated...He was taking it out of storage (it had only been stored for 4-5 months) this summer and put the brake pedal to the floor. He checked the master cylinder and it was dry? He put fluid in bled the lines and all has been fine for the last couple of months. He said there was no fluid anywhere on the floor or around the wheels. He has only driven it maybe 100 miles this summer? It has stainless sleeved calipers that he put on 5-6 yrs ago. Any ideas of what the issue could be or what I can check?

1st observation: Is JohnZ crazy smart about these cars or what :)

In my experience, even stainless sleeved brakes will leak fluid if left sitting for an extended period of time. It's much better for it to be driven every few weeks rather than sit for extended periods of time. Helps keep everything lubricated, etc.

As for the disappearance of the fluid, I suspect it leaked out.
My $0.02.:v

And, I believe you're right on about JohnZ.

WELCOME TO THE FORUM

It sound like your getting a great car.In case you dont know corvette people love a car with a history of owners.Follow up with the original owner and get as much info as you can.As for the missing fluid its real honorable of the fellow to tell you that but for sure the fluid probably leaked out some where.Nothing fixes it self so youll have to look into that real well.

Good Luck And be safe!
