and i am utterly disgusted. 300 bucks for a brake job and my Anti Lock light is still on. 10 days later and they tell me they don't have the software to complete the job. i am sooo ****ed off right now! since this wasn't covered under my warrenty i told them not to fix my passenger side door auto lock button and what do they do? fix it and charge me 80 bucks for it. total bill before being reduced 438 dollars and change.

i am calling my lawyer and letting him handle this. after all of this mess done i have a flat spot very noticable at speed on my RF tire after one of their people took it for a test drive and the brake locked on it. they said they didn't do this after they told me they nearly spun the car from the brake locking! i told them when i brought it in the brake locked on me and they shouldn't have took it for a test drive knowing this!

never do business with SWANSON automovitive in Glen Burnie MD!

Mic, check this thread out where we talk about a problem some Corvettes from that period seem to have experienced, that of lock-up and loss of control: New Car/ Old Car. ;)

I haven't experienced it, but it seems that some people here have, or have at least heard of it.

_ken :CAC

Oops! You already saw it! :o

thanks ken for your help but there is not really nothing there for me. i am still looking

Mag,

i can't really make heads or tails of that schematic any way to email me the original so i can see it better? email me at madmic@cablespeed.com

thanks!

MOST dealerships

No foolin'

I found it the case with Acura and BMW, too.

My car got so much better once it was out of warranty ad away from the mechanics' training grounds--MacPherson Chevy, in Irvine, CA.

New ownership and management improved things, but my car has not darkened their stall for a decade!

yeah i wouldn't of took it if i didn't think it was under "warrenty" i stay away from dealers for this reason only! you don't always find a guy like c4c5specialist that knows his stuff!

Mad-Mic,

Have you checked out your area for vette pro's?????????????
You really should.....
Out here in Southern CA. I always look for the guys that know VETTE'S...saves me alot of trouble....
They know what they are doing.....
Anyway...................
Good Luck

CAC users, shop referral area?

?Now, wouldn't it be nice to have a section of this site set up with Corvette shop referrals, from all of us?

Shops I've used and am quite pleased with:

Leonhardt Automotive in Anaheim (714)630-4510 mostly lighter work; Gary did my chip
Speed-O-Motive in Sante Fe Springs(562)945-2758 built my 406
John's Four Speeds in Anaheim (714)974-5539, Muncie4U@aol rebuilt and re-geared my 4 speed
Jim (Ellicott City, MD) http://www.jimsperformance.com/ redid the harness; guided me in the TPI conversion; troubleshot
5-speeds (Boca Raton,FL) http://www.5speeds.com/ wonderful job on the beefed Nash O/D
Muskegon Brakes (Michigan) http://www.muskegonbrake.com/ caliper exchange
TPIS (Chaska, MN) http://www.tpis.com/ total exhaust system; advice

I am sure Rob has nothing else to do.;)
:w mike:v

Does this idea have merit?
Should I have started a new thread

That's an excellent idea...

Mic, I'm still quite happy with P&G Automotive (he's also the guy that Sothpaw used, but remember those issues he had were not with the mechanic). He's right off Rt. 10 on the east side at Furnace Branch Rd. Go right at the first light and all the way back.

sounds good thanks fella's!

yes i am very pleased about the mechanics i have used (2 only) on my vette outside a dealership. everytime i have gone to a dealership, 2 to be precisely, they have screwed up a job that was supposedly covered under warrenty!

I have had bad luck with the dealers here also. I took the trans am in to have it diagnosed and they tell me i need a new opti and it will be 1200$ to do the job.I took the car home and took off the opti and it was fine the problem was a burnt spark plug wirethat was making it ping.I will never take it back to the dealer again i bought a new opti and didnt need to. That 1200$ job would have turned into a 2000$ job over a burnt wire.
