Brake Pad replacement

Is there a way to check brake pad thickness without pulling the wheels?
Not Really!!:D junk!!

Hi.

If you replace the pads, use the stock ones. I installed after-market pads (identified as non-squeaking) and had nuisance squeaking probs.

So, stay with the stock (unless you are racing).

Agewe on that...............How many miles did you get out of the original pads.?

Hi Bill -

I have a 2002 Z06 with 40k miles on the stock brake linings.

As the brake material wears, the fluid level in the master cylinder reservior will get progressively lower - that is one way to roughly guage the pad wear.

I recently replaced the pads on our 99 coupe - which apparently had the original linings - at 38k miles. The pads did not look too bad - maybe 50% worn, but I replaced the rotors and thus the pads as well.

I used Autozone'c ceramic pads, and have been pleased with them thus far.

best regards-
