Yep....went to take emission testing this am, get all buckled down on the emission dyno/rollers thing and guess what? My car would not break on the rollers.

The test ended before it started. I was told to get my brakes checked and come back.

It cant be my cam is it? 224/230 comp hyd. roller cam????? Should I bleed the brakes again? It stops on the street but not on the rollers???? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take it to a different testing facility. To say the least, the folks that work there are idiots.

Where I'm near, they just let the car idle down. That being said, I still haven't passed yet!:L

Are the rear brakes working? I don't know how hard you brake on the street, but under light braking the front brakes will stop the car. I would check the rear system.

Good luck

last time the car was on jack stands it stopped the rear wheels from moving while in gear. Im going to bleed my brakes again and see what happens. Aside from that the car runs great.

Your year has a diff breaking system then other c4's check the parking break sounds like it is not adjusted right.
You bleed your drivers side rear first .

please emphasize on the rear parking break? And yes I did bleed in the following order:

rear passenger, rear driver, front passenger, front driver.

From what I was told, you start bleeding from the furthest wheel from the master cylinder.

The parking brake on the early C4's have an internal drum brake much like the earlier rear disk mid-years and sharks. The later C4's use the rear caliper itself for the parking brake. So your parking brake should have no impact on any service brake issue.

It sounds like either a bad piston in the rear calipers or the proportioning valve may not be working correctly.

The guy at the emissions testing place should have released all tension on the roller so that you could use the brakes to stop the roller or have engine compression slow and then stop the roller.

hoiw can i tell if a caliper is bad? And what/where is the proportioning valve?
