My 93 has a very hard brake petal---bad booster ? problem with ABS ?

Its either a Vacuum leak to the booster or the booster itself has failed. If you hear a hissing sound when you push on the brake pedal that is the booster leaking internally.

They run between $150 to $350 rebuilt depending on if it has a new master cyl or not. You can get used ones for less on FleaBay if you look around a bit but theres the warranty thing and these are kind of a PITA to change. You don;t want to do it again anytime soon. There is also a metal replacement for the plastic. Metal cost a little more and its slightly bigger I think. Its more durable and designed for those with headers or other high-heat applications.
They look simple to change but the rod to the brake pedal can be challenging if you;re a larger guy. Nice to have small children that are mechanically inclined at 8 yrs old....:rotfl (they're good for passenger side spark plugs too)

If you plug off the vac line to stop the vac leak to the engine, you can still drive it. It just takes 2 feet to make a hard stop and a panic stop will depend on how much adrenalin runs thru your body as a dump truck pulls out in front of you......(you might be surprized!)
