I'm looking to upgrade my breaks but want to use the 17x9.5 front wheels and 17x11 rear wheels.

I currently live in the WV mountains and lets just say the designated speed limit is not always followed up here, and the stock breaks just don't cut it.

As is everyone else I'm looking for a good deal but I'm not apposed to spending $2000 per axle.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

I am looking to do the same with my 90. Alot of C4 guys are doing a conversion to C5 calipers and rotors. I think I want to go to the next level and go with 4 or 6 piston calipers, but just not sure what will work with my stock A-mold wheels.

Corvette Central carries some Brembo brakes for the C4 if you want they best they have it. Not sure if the kit I have in mind will fit your wheels but you can check. The one kit they have guaranties stopping distances from 60mph in under 100ft!!!

Nothing else from yo guy??? Upgrade threads usually get more response than this.....

Thanks for the suggestions I'm checking on each of them.

I have put drilled / slotted rotors on a few cars now. The combination of them + better pads is much better than factory.

Also, a MAJOR maintenance item that no one does is brake fluid. It should be done every 2 years, even more if you live in high humidity area. If you do the fluid, drilled / slotted rotors, better pads you'll see a difference but won't get hit with a major bill.

I have bought all the rotor sets off of eBay... the quality is not all the same, do some research. Get the Zinc plated ones and make sure the holes are not just drilled but actually dimpled and drilled, meaning the hole should be larger on the outside of the rotor then taper in.

The only downside of this combo is the better pads for stopping + cheese-grater effect of the rotors = a ton of brake dust and much shorter brake pad life.

Ok-
Get high temp/good fluid
High performance pads (Perfomance Friction, Carbotech, Hawk)
DOT braided lines.

This is what I run at the track, and can run all day at the track. Pads are the biggest change, and you need to match them to your driving habits. (ie. don't get a full on race pad for driving to work, you won't get enough heat in them) That said, I am running Carbotech 12 and 10 on the street.

Don't worry too much about the drilled and slotted stuff unless you just want it for looks. Most guys on the track do not bother with them.

+1 on C5 brakes. Awesome stopping power, inexpensive and easy to install, fully street-worthy (quiet, no warmup, rain-tested, minimal dusting), and doesn't detract from "stockness". Also opens up a wealth of pad and rotor options.

Eradi Speed 2 piece rotors with stainless brake lines, save some money and go with the Grand Sport calipers, but definetly do the brake bias spring modification, cheap and easy to do and stops that nose diving and evenly wears your pads, which in turn saves on pads and stress all the way around, bleed out good and use some Motul 600 synthetic brake fluid or equivilant, eliminates hi temp fluid problems.:thumb

This is just a suggestion of course, there are many options, but this is what is on my LT4.
