Well I am going to have to pass inspection sometime when I decide to take it he he. J/k I am holding out til 03 so that I don't have to worry about the smog nazis!!

Anyways one of the basic things required to pass ais functional lights. Well a while back I broke my blinker arm. For a while I though I was going to have to take apart the whole steering column but it turns out its just a pull/push time blinker arm. The problem was that there was no way I could pull it out.

So I get the idea of drilling a small hole through it and put a machine screw and have enough left sticking out that I could just pull it out with some pliers.

So I took the replacment with me to the hardware store (Home Depot) and buy machine screws with a smaller diameter than the blinker arm.

I chose #8x1" machine screw. I also bought a drill set, figuring I was going to need them later down the road. After comparing the drill sizes with the screws I thought that I would want a small enough hole that I would have more than enough thread to catch the piece inside and incase it got stripped I would still have more thread to work with.

So I went with a 7/64 drill size.

So I inserted the screw and turned until I felt it tighten up and then gave it just a bit more.

I got a pair of pliers and pulled on the screw.

Warning. You have to push against the plastic piece on the inside as you pull or the plastic piece is going to swivel out as if you were putting on the hi beams.

Tada!! Its done

To be honest I am not worried so much about inspection. It irks me when someone does not put on their blinker when changing lanes or making a turn.

I know I have almost hit people when they fail to do that and I dont want someone hitting me because I did not use my blinkers. Better yet I don't want a cop pulling me over and telling me that I did not use my signals and find out I have not taken the car to get inspected :L

"Blink-ity" blinkers!

Not using blinkers only annoys me when another driver could have benefited from the blinker information!

Is the blinker switch just a pullout? Or does it unscrew at all? I need to change the one on my 78 so I can put the cruise control back together (Replaced Steering column). I was going to pull it but thought that maybe I was doing something wrong.

"...and next up, I'll be replacing my steering wheel..." :L

caught a glimpse of it in your final pic...hahahah.... man, and I thought mine that I replaced was bad!!! :D

"...and next up, I'll be replacing my steering wheel..."
yeah I know!!:L

I was going to crop that part, when I saw it this was the expression on my face =>:eek :L

I was talking to my fiance and I told her that I put all the extra parts I had for sale. I told her with the money I was going to buy new interior carpet to because lord knows I NEED IT BAD. She suggested I wait until we do the body off resto. Same goes for the steering wheel I am just going to wait to do it all at once.
