Was driving my Z06 pretty hard yesterday and the right side of the seat seemed to have broken loose. I pulled over and leaned the seat forward using both the rear and side levers. Well the seat got stuck in the full forward position, almost leaning on the steering wheel. It won't move anywhere else! I could barely drive it home. Still under warranty, but I am curious if this has happened to anyone else and if so, how was the problem resolved? I would prefer to fix it myself if possible.

Seat is Fixed

Well, I got the seat fixed. Had to fiddle with first the lower lever and then the lever on the back of the seat. If finally came free. HOORAY! No need to go to the dealer now.

I would bet that is the key. If that lever is used to tip the seat forward, it must be released to allow the seat to go back.

The top lever is what seemed to have worked. Fiddling with the lower lever probably didn't have any effect.

Push the seat a little further towards the front of the car and the lock on the back of the head-rest will release very easy.

Thanks for the reply. I have had another time where although the seat didn't get stuck, but the right side gave way. THis is strange as it seems that the mechanism to support the seat, at least on my drivers side right, is marginal and gives way. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

My seat support again gave way where the right side breaks free and moves backwards. This occurs when I lean back into the seat fairly hard. It is still under warranty so I'll have the dealer look at it.

This is a common issue with the Vette seat. :(

had similar problem with my 2001 Z06 - they ended up replacing the entire seat track, as one of the attaching bolts had broke loose - I do drive her hard at times

Mine's starting to show signs. Gives a little jolt on accel or hard braking. I have $100 deductible on the ext. warranty so I'm waiting until it really bothers me.I guess it was a weak design. They must not have figured having 225 lbs drivers.

This happened to me once too. It finally "normalized" after I messed around with it. Now I'm worried it will do it again after the warranty runs out in the spring. :(

I was reading on a different board, but can't find it anymore, that the TSB for this one requires them to have to order a whole new skin for the seat. I was told by the previous owner of my car that if you really push down on the left hand side lever to essentially lock it in, it won't do it anymore. Perhaps the locking mechanism gets an additional bite, but who knows, it could only be 1/16th of an inch. Unfortunately though the dealer won't work on it unless you can duplicate the problem to them.
