Can someone tell me what my 68 build date code translates to. Its H04

Is that the code on the trim plate located on the left door hinge pillar? If so, H=March and 04 is the 4th.

Yep. March 4th. My '68 came along about a month later, 4-20-68. Your car was probably not finished on March 4 and is likely to have needed another day or day and a half on the assembly line. March 4th is the date your car passed the station on the line where the trim tags were attached.
