Hi all,

Can anyone suggest a good place to have the bumpers rechromed on my 73 or would I be better off to replace them. They are straight and dent free.

Thanks

Tracey

Bumper Re-Chrome

Hi Tracey,

Re-chroming is the best way to go if your bumpers are in good shape. Although re-chroming takes time, the finish is far superior than what you would get with new replacement parts.

The best work I have seen is by an outfit in Evans City, PA. Paul's Chrome Plating, Inc. 800-245-8679 http://www.paulschrome.com/. A couple of people in our club have used them and the results were incredible. Great work, very deep shine, fair prices and great communication.

Where in Maryland are you located? I am with Gburg Vettes in Gaithersburg.

Hope to see you and everyone else at our Concours and Fun Show at Criswell Chevy in Gaithersburg, MD Sunday April 10, 2005. http://gburgvettes.org/carshow05.pdf

I wont be driving mine for about 2 months. The new 385HP crate engine is being put in, front suspension is being rebuilt, trans. is going to ATI in Baltimore for rebuild and I am repainting the car among many other things.

Good luck with the resto. Definately consider Paul's Chrome. Their work is awsome.

Can anyone recommend a good plating shop in the Los Angeles area?

Thanks!!

I had mine chromed in Houston, but found out its standard process to only chrome the front side of the bumper and nickel the back side. If you run into the same issue, I would advise a coat of POR15 on the back side for rust prevention.

Space Cowboy (aka dnewton)

PS - Candy Apple paint job is FINALLY done. Pictures to come.
