Burl wood dash??????

Hi

Thought about putting a burl wood dash in, l believe it comes with 8 sections.

Forgetting about dollars and cents, which is the best one .

Does this have to be done by a pro?????????

ls this a wise thing to do because l know all of the so called greenwood packages lowers the resale value big time.

My neighbor put one in his car and it looked good,,,
Other kits look like trash ((Neighbor moved so I can't ask - sorry)

I personally would put it back to stock if I was seriously looking to buy/sell a wood dash car - but that's me

It's really a personal taste issue. I personally don't care for the look at all. It was really the only thing "wrong" with my car when I got it. Every other aspect of the car was stock and it was very hard for me to see past the wood dash kit...it looked that bad (to me). I didn't have the car home for 30 minutes before I was removing it. Fortunately for me, it had been put on with some fairly mild adhesive...similar to rubber cement. It came off pretty well and only left a couple small blemishes where the adhesive had dulled the finish of the black plastic panels.

My best advice would be, if you really want the wood, to install it with the intention of making it easy to remove. Any future owners of the car may really appreciate it. If you don't plan on selling it, then it's not an issue! Bottom line is, it's your car! Have fun with it!

Same here,no offense but Id rather see my car burn to the ground before putting a wood kit in it.(Im exaggerating a little)Each to his own.If you feel you have to put something in it try a carbon fiber kit ,they look a little better but not by much.

I put a real wood dash kit on my 96 collectors edition coupe. It looks great. It is the real wood that has been laminated with a satin finish, not a high gloss. Its a darker wood, with not a bold wood grain. I have the gray/black interior. It added what the Corvette needed, a relief from the plastic. It gives it a bit of class. Now - don't over do it either. I just saw a 90 polo green ragtop with the tan interior - where the prior owner used contact paper.

I did it myself. It just takes patience. Test fitting each piece dry, before you take the backing off. Make sure each piece fits and you know where it lines up before you try to put it on. You only get one chance. I bought mine on ebay. But buy a good kit, not a cheap one. get a real wood laminate.

I'm glad you changed your mind we're not trying to force you but how many 2 seater performance cars do you see with a factory woodgrain dash. Wonder what NASCAR w/ woodgrain. SCAA w/ woodgrain would look like. The list can go on and on. I know there's a trend w/ woodgrain trim,neon and baby fart pipes, but keep em in the rice fields.

I have to agree with you, but it would be nicer, to just say, leave them on the cheap imports.

But, l have them in my Jaguar and Volvo and they look good.

Isn't the Jag and Volvo factory installed? I think its a whole other breed of amimal. Putting that stuff in a Corvette is kind of like putting that thick plastic on living room furniture. Its doing a job, but it looks like S***.

The Jaguar came with the Burl Wood, but the Volvo was a dealer option.

When l asked how much it would cost the salesman said $500 installed. But when we sat down to talk dollars and cents, because l leased the Volvo, he said that it would only be figured at $125.

Just one other point - molded kits always look better than the flat/sticker type.

I'm not into wood trim kits in a Vette, but to each their own.

I put a Rosewood kit in my 81 and it looks great - my opinion and several others(friends,fellow club members,and show spectators)
Ordered thru Ecklers. Fit and finish are great
Plan to put one in my 94 as soon as finances allow. Both cars have black interior and need a little something to break it all up.

Although some of the wood kits defenitly look OK, I feel the original concept looks alot better...
