Burned Blue C6

This was a Blue C6 in a carport and a Saturn 2 stalls away caught fire (???) and this was the end result.
Lesson#1..Don't park next to $10K cars
Lesson#2..Try not to park in a carport..nothing like contained heat...

What's the story behind that?

Here you go, here's the 2nd photo.

(Rocky, I'll send you info on what I had to do)

Wow - That thing pretty much burned to the ground. Considering the heat involved, the surrounding area looks pretty unscathed????

My thought exactly! Seems a bit strange.

Very strange. Being in a volunteer fire department, I've been in a number of homes involved with fire. It always amazed me that from the floor to about 4 ft. up, everthing is clean, above that there is some residue, whether light or heavy. In that photo, I can't see any. Very strange indeed. Unless it had something to do with being outside????

How did you know it was blue? Looks sorta charcoal metallic.:L

Still a shame to lose a vette.:cry

According to the FD, it was in a carport with 2 cars on the dr. side. That's where the fire started..2 stalls down. The fire didn't do much damage to the sheetrock as you can see since the fire was on the other side of the car most of the time.. According to him, sheetrock takes alot to burn since it's mostly plaster, etc.
He had the car about 2 months so wouldn't seem to be behind in payments, etc yet??? Makes you want to put your car in a fire suit when parking it.

Sheetrock is covered with a paperlike coating and it looks like plywood on the back wall. Suspicious?

That's correct, but as said above, sheetrock has a paper coating. The very least you should see is a black stain on it. That C6 is right up against the wall and that sheetrock should be toast with the heat it took to burn that car.

I'm not picking on you or anything, I'm glad you posted the pic!:) I just find it really strange there isn't more marking on the walls around the C6.

It's almost like someone picked up a burnt car and placed it there.

I'm sure that the structure burnt to ashes except for the sheetrock. The plywood was probably put around the structure to keep people out. The only other thing it could be is smoke stained concrete wall poured with a plywood mold. Once the mold frame is removed, the concrete has that wood texture molded into it. The sheetrock would act as a refractory material and would be hot enough (over 500 degrees) to burn the smoke stains off. But how did that one tire survive?

All good points wishuwerehere82. That wall could very well be concrete the more I look at it. And the plywood to keep people out makes sense, since we board up burnt out house's for the same reason.

Good point on the tire also. I still can't get over how bad that car burnt!! It amazes me!!

Gents, that is a painfull thing to live, my first vette, a 92 convertible, burned to the ground on I-15 California. No-one stopped to help

Hey PLRX787, ur scaring me. This 92 conv. is my first vette and I drive on I-15 everyday!!!;LOL :W

"I can fix it. You can't fix that car Spicolie! My dad's a T.V. repaiman and has this awsome set of tools... I can fix it!" :D

Now, for a moment of silence....:cry

92 fx3 cac: "fx3fx3"

It burned right (I-15S) after Weirick Rd exit, 50 meters before the emergency phone. You can see the road, still melted and you'll see two large black tire lines. I returned with my new vett to render respect and memory. Don't worry you'll be fine!!
