Hi guys I looking at buying a 66 coupe I could use some advise on what problem ares I should be checking out. I know the frame is a big one. This car is about 5 hrs away in a 1 stoplight town
so finding a place to check it out for me is slim and I doubt he will let me drive it to the closest city about 2 hrs away Any help would
be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Checklist

You may or may not have already seen this, but there is a sort of "catch-all" checklist available here:

http://corvetteactioncenter.com/tech/buying.html

It is pretty inclusive, and worth a look. It would probably be good in your situation, as you are not going to want to forget to look at something and have to drive back 5 hours to have a peek. As for specifics on what to look for on a '66, I'm afraid I cannot help too much.

Good luck.

Frame rust (especially at kickup ahead of the rear wheels)
Rear Wheel Bearings (play, growling noises)
"Flat" rear spring (should be arched)
Leaky brake calipers
Water leaks under the dash (perforated windshield frame)
Engine Temperature (correct aluminum radiators are expen$ive)
