Alright folks, I'm kind of a stranger in these parts (C5 :D). I am looking at moving to a C5 and need some advice as to special areas/things to look at/for.

I did a preliminary look yesterday at a 2 owner, 01 coupe. Dk blue/tan, Z51, HUD, 6spd, sport seats, 12 CD changer, with 30k. It looks really good (like a 30k car should), with a few rock chips, etc.

What should I look for or ask about in particular? It is at an independent dealer. Asking price is a little high (IMO), but it's a starting place.

The later years of C5's (2003 and above ) had fewer problems .Column lock ,oil consumption are two that come to mind.

The C5 are fantastic machines ,It has a 3lt group which is neat and a good color combo. The mileage is fairly low--BUT do not overpay .I bought a new 08 off ebay for 42,000 with an MSRP of almost 69.(no bragging) I just want to make a point that the buyer is in control (thats you :D )

Again the C5 is a fantastic car and there are lots for sale right now.

The Column Lock was an issue with 01s, OK. Was there a recall on that, does anyone know? Oil consumption, what's that about and what was done to remedy that?

You know, I've had my 94 for nearly five years, and yesterday was the first time I have even sat in a C5 ....sat in a few C6s, but that the first C5 I've sat in. A heck af a lot more room and easier to enter and exit. But it doesn't have the same "cockpit" feel the C4 has.

I'm going back on Monday or Tuesday to actually drive it. They have another one there, an 02 coupe (hadn't been cleaned up or prepped so I wasn't able to look at it much), about the same miles and equipt except F45 and it was automatic, silver with light gray. Any thoughts on the F45? I have the FX3 adjustable suspension on my 94, is the F45 as problematic?
