Buying a C5

One of the first changes I made when I got my vert was the sound system. GM's Delco Blowse leaves alot to be desired. Running an Eclipse unit with changer, new speakers all around, sub and 600 watts. Sounds great top up or down.

dont spend money on sound spend money on performance. Any car can have sound but nothing performs liked a modified vette!

Sound vs. Performance

In response to ATMMAC, I really don't think I need any performance mods. This car is fast enough for me! And you certainly realize that coming from your part of the country, (New England) that there are few roads and fewer roads in any condition to really wring out the Vette. I am originally from Maine, and we would put up the Corvette and dig out the 4X4 in just a few weeks hence. Seriously, though, I will leave the engine mods to a younger generation. I think I will stick to cruising the beach in SC or AL in the summer with the top down and some real driving music in the CD player.

I finally ended up with a 2000 Sebring Silver Convertible. 15 ,000 miles and everything but the 12 disc CD changer. I guess I can probably find one on e-bay or one of the after-market vendors. The car was delivered to me on Monday (9/29). What a car! I really enjoyed my C4, and it was trouble-free, but this car is absolutely AWESOME! Like night and day! I just finished reading All Corvettes Are Red (except mine) and I would recommend the book to any C5 owner of anyone who is interested in Vettes. And to think the Corvette was in imminent danger of being discontinued is almost unthinkable. The work that has gone into the R &D certainly is evidenced by performance and handling. Just think there is a C6 yet to come next year. I hope I won't be tempted, but one never knows about this fever thing. Thanks to all of you for the great feedback and timely advice. As always, you just can't beat the CAC for all the information necessary. Eureka Springs this weekend!

Ron, Congratulations on your beautiful Sebring Silver Convertible with such low mileage. I don't how much you paid or thereabouts but I bet it was a sweet deal..

Have fun as the C5 convertible really is an amazing car!
