My '59 has never had the rebound straps on it. I'm thinking of putting them on, just because I need something to do. Is it hurting the car not to have them ? I've never noticed any issues without having them and didn't even know such things existed until after I owned the car for a number of years.

Also, probably going to replace the shocks soon too -- any recommendations ?

Thanks,

Bernie O

The straps are to keep the rear end from having so much up/down travel that the yoke slides off of the tranny output shaft. The straps and the long yoke were designed to prevent that. Additionally, they prevent the front U-joint from going into a bind (due to too much angle), and they prevent the driveshaft from contacting the rear edge of the X-frame.

C5vetter, Thanks for the explanation - I've never encountered any of those problems before, but I'm going to put the straps on anyway.

Thanks again,

Bernie O
