I have a noisy alarm that is fob controlled. I also have fuel and ignition cut offs, and I carry a steering wheel to clutch lock ( for visual effect).
I have tried the alarms that page you instead of making noise, but the batteries have a low life and wake you in the middle of the night to tell you they are low.
Be aware that all you can do is make it difficult for someone to drive away. If a thief REALLY wants your car, he will bring a flatbed and pull it onto the truck.
I use the alarm to notify unwanted guests that I care. The ignition cut off says I want to keep my car. The fuel shut off says "Surprise, your are out of gas and stuck in traffic!"
