Since I'm held up waiting for parts I thought I'd do some cosmetic work. In the process I've discovered a problem. When I pulled the steering column I left the coupling attached to the steering box. As you'll see in the picture it needed some sprucing up. The coupler is loose and moving on the input shaft of the steering box. It moves up and down the shaft about 1/4 inch and I can also wiggle it back and forth a bit. It does not turn on the shaft. I thought I'd just tighten up the flange bolt but what the heck kind of head is on that thing? The steering box was "disassembled and cleaned" at a Corvette repair shop in Dec. of 2003. I've probably put about 1400 mile on it since then. At this point I wonder if it was ever properly tightened after reassembly.

12-point socket.

Thanks!

between the work on the '60 and the work on the '66, is either one currently driveable for you to enjoy?
