Good morning from Chicago!! I own a 2002 Coupe with about 14K on the clock. My problem is a drivers side window that will not work after shutting the door and the car is started. Other side works OK. I have done some self diagnosis and and have found that if I open the door to the full open position, the window swithch works???? If I close the door it does not. I suspect the problem is in the wiring coming out of the door going into the car in front of the driver seat. There is a rubber sleeve that comes out of the door and goes into the car body and I suspect the wires run thru there. Anyone had this issue and is it possible to get that rubber sleeve off and expose the wires? I suspect a wire is crimped in there and when the door is full open the connection is made but when shut the wire bends and I loose the connection. Any insight or help anyone can provide would be appreciated. Thanks

I thinkt that you are on to something here.

You are definitely headed the right direction. It takes some wrestling around but one end of the boot can be removed and the wires exposed. I would pull it from the A pillar instead of the door side. You will find that in the A pillar there are two connectors that can be gently pulled out and seperated for inspection and cleaning. One is the power source for all the drivers side door instrument cluster (door locks, windows, mirrors, etc.) and the other connector is for the stereo speaker. Unless you get lucky and can actually see a crimp or rub you might have to do like I did and remove the door panel. This exposes all the door harness for inspection. (Vette Essentials has a fantastic guide for door panel removal on their web site.) Unfortunately all the wiring in the harness is wrapped with an orange tape similar to electrical tape that will have to be unwrapped to expose all the wires for inspection. It turned out my issue was the center connector that went to the door control module. If you can I would recommend you actually chase down the source because it it will cause more inconvenience and could possibly do like mine and lead to multiple DIC code issues. Some people fool themselves when the think simply "jiggling" the rubber boot "fixes" the problem forever.
