Well CruiseFest '06 is fastly approaching and once again I fear that we owners of the old cars are gong to let the C4,5,6 guys steal the show. At Auburn we had a couple of C1s and C2s and a good representation of C3s due in no small part to the participation of the L81 Registry. Last year we had Rowdy and 67 Heaven stealing the thunder (literaly) for all of the C1/C2 members. Everyone wanted a ride with Lou or Bob.

In the early days of this site the C1 and C2 Forums would go for days without any new posts then they caught on and membership of owners of the early cars took off. Now it is one of the best forums for the early cars out there. You would think that with all of these members that we could get a fair representation of cars at our national meet. Surely some of us have cars that are capable of making the trip to BG in early June.

In my totally biased opinion a group of a dozen or so C1/C2s is more exciting than an acre of C4,5,6 cars. What a great opportunity for us to get together some of the great projects and other nice cars that we see here in pictures.

This year's event has several new features plus all of the things we are used to. Read the Cruisefest Forum for an overview of the activities you can expect and join in on one of the caravans to BG. They make getting there half of the fun. If you live in the eastern half of the US this will be your best shot at a National for a couple of years as next year we are looking at Colorado.

Come join the fun. You won't be sorry and just maybe we can educate those new car owners a little. :D

I am going with the 62, I have to finalize with VNV excactly when. I will be driving the 62 there.

I am a little nervous about driving the car that far , but I will get over it.

See you then

I'd love to go and bring Baby with me since I also missed it last year but lack of funds in the budget plus I have to help Linda as a Vendor at a show at Carlisle during those dates is going to keep me away again this year :(

You'll be OK Larry. You have done a remarkable job building the '62. It should be better than driving a new C6. NCRS and SACC guys drive their restored or or even original 40-50 year old technology cross country annually to conventions so your car should be a breeze.

Barry,
I know the financial sacrifice of doing a show like this all too well. Even though I rode with bossvette last year I still had gas expense and 3 nights motel as well as registration, food ect. Overall it was a pretty cheap vacation (my wife didn't go :L) but it did set me back financially on my truck project about 6 months. I planned on having it driveway drivable last fall but now it's looking like June or July.

I'm still working on my vacation schedule myself. The switch to June is a problem. Too many guys higher on the food chain at work that are young with kids and want to go on a family vacation as soon as school is out. I'm not in a big bargaining position since others have changed schedules for me in the past. It's just a waite and see. I was really fortunate when we did Auburn. Even if I would have had to work I could have been there some each day.

I'm planning on trying to make it down next year. Right now, my midyear is in Virginia and I'm not. As soon as my fiancee's house sells, we can buy one with a suitable garage here in Michigan. Then I can get the car up here and finish the last few things on my list before taking a long drive!

I would like to have gone, especially to meet so many people I have exchanged conversations with, however, the Mid-Atlantic NCRS has there Chapter Meet and I have registered to get my car judged on June 3 and 4th. If at possible next year...so sorry....

All I have left to do is install the radio when it comes back from being upgraded to new guts. It should be back here I hope 1st week of May 06. Then fiddle with the advance curve.....Then wash and wax....Make sure my AAA Plus is paid up .. pick up a new set of ear plugs......and head on out.

Hope to see alot of C-1s and C-2s at the fest.

What's the point of a radio with earplugs?? Still kidding you. Perhaps I can swing this trip but its gonna be tough. I sure would like to go.

Best regards,
Gerry

I bet if we get 3 or 4 big blocks rumbling we can set off every car alarm in Bowling Green. ;LOL

Yeah I'm up for a 3: AM Bowling Green Run.....Man... That would be LOUD..!!!;LOL

500 miles in a 100 degree car is not something I would do anymore. Picked up a nice Dodge Ram and if I can find a closed trailer at a decent price, she'll be on the road. Until then all trips over 100 one way are in the '92

C'mon Grizz. With an evil glint in yer eye, screw a skull's head knob on that midyear shifter, grab that ol' steering wheel in yer teeth, and head out down the highway to Bowling Green with the rest of us.......heat be damned. :rotfl

I would LOVE to cruise out to CruiseFest in my '65 (which I call The Silver Bullet)...but I'm not comfortable driving it that far, and it would cost me twice as much in gas with double the stops to get there also. I'm not even 100% sure I'm going to be able to drive my '96 out, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed and trying to stay positive. You can be sure I'll be looking for all my C2 brothers and sisters at CF!

:w Barbie

I plan on being there at least one day since I live just down the road from BG. I also speak Kentucky and will help translate our version of the King's English for anyone from North of the Mason-Dixon who might think the locals are speaking a foreign language.

I also hope to bring my '65. It's not a BB but the sidepipes will wake up the neighbors. Maybe I could run interference for the high rise hood bunch.

Here's what my C2 looks like in the midst of a crowd of C5s at NCM.

Just noticed on the agenda is a tour of Maker's Mark Distillery. If any of you plan on going, be sure to sign up as a Maker's Mark Ambassador prior to your visit. Tell the ladies in the gift shop that you're an Ambassador and you'll get a certificate and label pin that non-Ambassadors won't receive. Oh, and be sure to dip your own souvenir bottle in the red wax.

The Maker's Mark employees are good people. They'll make you feel at home. I went to Keeneland Race Course last weekend in Lexington for the running of the Maker's Mark Mile and had a wonderful time at the track and at the party they hosted for their Ambassadors downtown that evening. The drive to Loretto from BG is a pretty one. One thing's for sure, you have to be going to Loretto to get there 'cause it's located off the beaten path! Have fun.

Nice '65 Tim. You must have made all of those C5 folks feel real bad after they saw what they could of had. :D

Thanks Tom. I got a lot of "thank you's" for bringing it to the museum's 10th anniversary event. I even met two guys who were there from the U.K. and really appreciated getting an up close and personal view of a C2. I also noticed more than one C5 owner stopping to drool over what they could've had for less money and more fun than their new car. Makes ya' feel good when that happens!
