Larry did you send out your grille mouldings to be done also? I just took all the rivets and screws out of my door posts and hope to soon take my windshield apart. The posts and miscellaneous other items (non bumper) will be my second, and hopefully last, batch of parts to be chromed. I'm still debating the grille mouldings and cove spears. Still waiting for my bumpers to come back.

There is no way in hell that I would ever send another set of grille surrounds out for chroming. With the cost of new ones, it just does not make sense! I recently sent out a set of NOS ones that were just scuffed up from rubbing in boxes over the years, and several of the pieces bubbled and blistered. When you are dealing with pot metal that is this old and this thin, it can almost fall apart in the plater's hands! Every time I send out some of this old pot metal to have it chromed, I swear it will be the last time! Corvette Specialties sells real nice repro ones.

Regards, John McGraw

I have two grille upper and no lower, bought a lower and used the best upper.
the lower was done so well i think i need to by another upper. lower was only 200.
Got it from Keen parts at a local show.

Thanks John thats all I needed to hear... I know the rechroming is more but I wanted to stay original. But it doesn't do any good if it won't last.

I am no chrome expert ,But it looks great to me. I am slightley disapointed only because I was told they would run a tap/die over any threaded items prior to shipping, and that was never done (may seems minor) but it was one of the reason I chose this place thinking they were a real quaility shop.First thing
I will do is reasemble my windshiled (yes Herb I will take photos and post them) next thing will be rebuilding the doors. I have a lot of work to do now

And the plate is supposed to mean

I had to build

I may have to change it because not every one gets it

I was looking at my windshield yesterday. I don't think there is any way I will be happy if I don't put a new gasket around the glass and take out that one ding right in the middle of the lower moulding. If you guys get real good at this I'll let you do mine too. :L

If you were closer I would insist you bring it over and we do them together. I thought I had a helper for this but he is unavailable for a couple of weeks so I will dig into this with my lovely wife,Who no matter what is always available to help me out with my projects.

Good luck with that hope you two have lots of patience. The first time my father and I tried this we almost killed each other. It can be frustrating. Push here....no not there here..... or maybe there.......Oooops my had slipped...I can't help it soap is slippery :D :D :D :L Good times.

When I take it off I might as well bite the bullet and put on a dash pad too. My pad isn't bad but it has some cracks on the ends where the underlying foam deteriorated. It also has a row of snaps for a tonnue cover that are rather unique......or ugly. Depends on your point of view. I actually think about having a new cover made sometimes. :eyerole

Maybe we should have a national windshield rebuilding seminar at CruiseFest. We could do them all at once. We might even attract a few more. What an exciting day with a half dozen C1 windshields blown apart all over the dinner tent.

"Sorry Roscoe. You can't serve prime rib yet. We still have 2 windshields to put bact together." :L
