If some one could,I am trying to place my seats in the car,(Wise guy replacement seats) and If some one could measure like in the picture I posted if the seats actually sit in the center of the area.

Actually if you could measure from the glove box edge about the height of the deck lid button to the center of there seat it would help me alot

Are you using their adapters to mount it to the original body mounting holes? I have the seats and haven't stuck them in yet, but according to Dick at W-G, the original seat adjuster slides bolt to the seat frame and their adapters fit to the original holes in the body.

Are you going to have someone else cover them? I bought one seat without the seat covering, wanted to see how well I fit in the car with it....but didn't get the seat adjuster adapters to body.

regards, Herb

I have these plates that came with the seats But they dont match up with the original holes in the floor,Can you post a picture of your seat frame.I am trying to figure out if mine need to be modified. I am using the wise guy seat adjusters. I am going to have the guy who is doing the door panels do my seats I want them to be overstuffed.

Larry,

I am not at home and can't get any other pictures until tomorrow night....but Dick from Wise guy seats told me that the seat adjuster attaches to their seat and the adapter plate they provide attachs between the seat adjuster and the holes in the floor pan.....it is supposed to line right up...so if you don't have the Corvette seat adjuster, that might be part of the problem for getting things to align....

Larry,

Put the seat back foam in place, and it will become very obvious where to locate the seat. Get the same clearance (or lack of), between the foam and the glove box and the door jamb extension, and that will be your location. By the way, with that view of your seat frame it is clear that your seat has not been modified to clear the top frame. I wish I did not already have my seats covered so I could show you how I modified mine.

You know I sent an email to wise guys with a photo of my frame and never heard back from them. The picture herb posted looks the same as my seat frame.

My problem is that when I set the seat where I think it should go it hits the convetable hinge holder, Are your seat still out? could you give me a dimention how far off the tunnel you came with your holes?

how did the seats come out do you have a photo.

I had to make some brackets today ,for the seats, for the hood opener, for the emergency brake ,for the shifter, With out the grinder/sander you suggested I dont know what I would have done.

Larry. How much where those seats and where did you buy them? I never saw aftermarket seats that look that close to orig.

This is the link (below) I lifted these pictures off of....there is another phone number besides Wise Guys that you can call about the seats listed on the link. Looking at the bottom picture with the seat installed you can see that it is VERY close if not touching the convertible top bracket.

I get the impression that W-G doesn't look at their web site very often. I called last Monday to let them know I had an email question along with pictures and they finally called back on Friday, but I was in Florida. They have promised me two times now to send me out samples of the black coverings they can put on the seat....I am still waiting.....

I paid $300 delivered for ONE seat not covered from Elkhart, Ind to Cleveland, Ohio. Because I wanted to see the difference of how I fit....figuring if it didn't work, the seat would be on EBay. I plan on getting the second seat. If you want a pair covered, they run about $1400-1500. The embrodiery on the seat is about $30 per seat.

I didn't want to do that for fear I would loose clearnace in the car for my big ole body....the seats that were in the car were overstuffed and that made it impossible to sit in.....after reading at Yellowcorvette.com, I now understand why you are not worried about wheel to seat clearance, you moved the wheel up.....good move on your part...how do you know how to do all this stuff? I read your site with amazement at the things you have done in a short time....by the way....you still owe me pictures of the windshield frame.......

As Herb explained they are wise guy seats,I paid just under 700,00 delivered to my place for a set including -seat frames, seat cushions, seat adjusters/slides and the mecanism to recline the seats, I sold my original seat frames for 800.00 so it was a no brainer for me.The original seats I had were completely rusted to the point I did not think they were useable

Larry,

I made my inside mounting hole 3" from the vertical surface of the trans tunnell, and inline with the original rear mounting holes.
Have your upholstery guy watch the padding on the side bolsters, as it is very easy to make the glove box hard to open due to side bolster clearance.
Herb's pic shows the top clearance issue very well. Here is a pic of my finished seat back, and you can see where I modified the outer corner of each seat to avoid this issue.

Thanks John it looks like you did some major work to the seats, I printed the pictures you had in your photo albulm with the plates you installed and will use your dimention.I finally have installed my hand brake and had to make a stop for my glovebox door to avoid scrathing the door on the hand brake.I had planned on setting my car real low on the frame (tiny spacers on the frame mounts) and may have to raise it up a tad if I have have a clearence problem in the tunnel with the emergency brake coming into the tunnel area.or I may raise the brake mount up a bit into the the cabin of the car with some spacers. I am aslo trying to think how I can roll the bezel for the hand brake to match the curve of the tunnel.I may have to get out the wood working tools to make a wooded press of some sorts.
