C1 Removing the body from the frame on a 62

Thanks I am hoping to drop the motor and trans in tomorow night so I can mock up the steering colum and get that on order,

install the power brake booster and master cylender,So I can lay out the brake lines then also the fuel lines and fabricate any clamps I need

then try and figure out an exchaust system

then lastley figure out how to mount the bumpers to the car and then back to the frame. If you look close at the photos to John Magraws frame you ll see the brackets he had to make up.Once I am done with all of the is the frame gets taken a part and sent to the painter.

Larry

do you do the fiberglass repairs and painting of the body while it is off the frame or after it is back on it?

I don't know of course since I don't do repairs, but am i guessing correctly that the 'glass repairs are earier done on the frame so you know everything is lined up correctly before you glass it up?
What about painting? I've heard that a lot of people prefer painting it on the frame so no damage happes when you go to put it on the frame afterwards but doesn't that make it more difficult to paint the body not to mention more labor in the masking off as opposed to painting the body off the frame like John did.

Barry this will be the first car I will have painted off of the frame because of scheduling work to keep me busy.

The frame will go in first to be painted and then the body will be on a body dolly connected to a rotisiary.

While the body is being done I will re assemble all of the frame and polish all of my parts as its going back together.

So I know alot of folks do body work and paint while the body is on a dolly and dont have cracks or problems so I am hopeing I will have the same results.
