Just another question that came to mind while preparing for the "big frame swap". Are C2 and C3 steering columns similiar? The plan is to put a 64 body on a 69 frame. Measurements from my other 64 driver look the same regarding steering box mounting on the 69 frame. This may help broaden my search when it comes time to find a column. If anyone has a column in poor to o.k. shape, I may be interested.

Just a note...

I am documenting this whole process from start to finish, and will post it here. I realize that frames are getting rusty as we speak, and maybe this could be an option for someone someday.

It will work with minor changes

David Crane at Crane Corvettes in San Diego has been modifyig 68-74 frames for 63-7 cars for years. As I remember, there is a angled brace in the rear kickup area that needs to be changed and the rear mount holes above the differential are slightly different.

Suggest you get a frame "assembly mount" instruction sheet for each and study the differences. David can be reached at 858-514-8388. His web site is www.cranescorvette.com

Hopefully he will be friendly and share with you. It is his business however, so even if he charges you a couple of bucks for the knowledge, it will probably save you 10 hours of hassle when you make the change.

The columns themselves are different, but the frame in that area and the steering gears are identical between '64 and '69.
