How extensive of a project is it to replace/fix c2 clocks. Mine doesn't keep good time, but I want to keep the mechanical clock vs the quartz. Anyone buy the replacement with any major supplier?

Send it to:

The Clock Works
1745 Meta Lakes Rd.
Eagle River, WI 54521
1-715-479-5759

www.clockwks.com

They can install a NOS Borg clock movement and return it in about a week for 69.95 plus 9.00 for shipping and insurance. It comes back pretty, running smoothly and accurately.

Great!, Now any tips on how to get the clock out?

The clock is held in by two removable clips at the rear of the clock.

See top right in this photo....

The slots in the clips fit over the studs on the back of the rear cover -- see bottom left (at the 6 and 11 o'clock positions in this photo :D )

Take the radio side panels off for access or pull the glove box (drop door and remove screws around the frame; door and liner will come out as one). Clips are shown in photo:

Depress clip and slide off post. Disconnect wiring. Clock comes straight out the front of the dash.

While the clock is out, it's a good time to check the "bullet" receptacle that contains the bulb that illuminates the heater control bezels; it slides into the little slits at 6 o'clock in the fiberglass clock housing (A/C cars have two more, at the slits at the 4 and 8 o'clock positions). This "bullet" has a funky ground system - it grounds where the upturned end of the clip contacts the outside of the metal clock case, so it won't work unless the clock is installed (or has a ground test wire attached if the clock is out). This photo shows it removed from the slits for clarity.

Thanks everybody,

It's safe to assume that since I didn't even know that the bezels were supposed to be illuminated that the bulb is out . Will check that out when I pull the clock, Thanks.
