After driving my 65 vette around town a bit, the clutch pedal begins to grab as I push in (about half way thru travel). I noticed a grease fitting on a shaft on the underside of the car. Sorry but I don't know the technical name. Anyway, I applied grease and it clearly made for easier and smoother operation of the clutch pedal, however, the grabbing returns after cruising for more than 1/2 hour. I used general purpose grease. Should I have used a heat resistant grease or is the problem unrelated to this grease fitting? Thanks -- Bill

The peice you have greased is called the Z bar, clutch cross shaft, bell crank.

On the outboard drivers side where the bell crank attaches there is a nut that holds a ball like pivot to a braket on the frame check that it is tight.next inside of the bell crank there are 2 plastic pieces that swallow the ball and are held in with a clip see that they are still there.

Then under the dash there are some bushings that are supposed to allow for smooth operation.see that they are still in good shape and then lastley some times the clutch pedal gets worn out or the holes it rides in get worn out causing it to stick / bind. All of these are easey fix's that dont need special tools for, just the time to do it. Look into some of the vendor catolouges you may have laying around to see some diagrams of what the parts and pinch point may be.Every thing is available to correct this problem

Good Luck and if you go under the car MAKE sure it is properly supported

I'll check it out. Thanks a bunch. Bill
