One day ...
Been looking at a lot of C2 pix recently (both convertablies and coupes) and it has struck me that I can't see any gaps in the rear deck which indicates a trunk (or boot as we call it here on good old blighty). Did the C2 have a trunk? If not how did you carry luggage, put it behind the seats?

:confused

There is simply no trunk lid....or something like that. The trunk is there but the access is from inside the car....and goes all the way up to the gas tank...if you look at that from the outside....that´s just a few cm´s in front of the gas door.

The only 5 cars that had kinda trunk lid...but no trunk...were the Grand Sports....

When GM realized that Tod and Buzz could continue cruising America without a change of underwear for at least one more season they elected to save a few $ on production cost by eliminating the trunk on the C2.:L :L

Thanks for the info.

Don't know if this is true but...what I heard was that when Chevy was designing the '63 Corvette, Zora only had enough money in the budget to engineer either an independent rear suspesion or a trunk, but not both. Given their desire to race the car, the choice was obvious.

A luggage rack was offered as a dealer-installed option (mounted on the rear deck) to supplement the interior storage space. You may occasionally see a C2 that has one but they don't seem to be very common.

Vettes with trunk lids, doors or whatever stopped in the 1963 model, 62 and down until the 97`s came out. Also the gas door on the side followed the same way

I'm trying to imagine one of those on my coupe. :crazy

Doh! Yeah, I forgot, it was only offered on convertibles. :) Having never owned a coupe I kinda forget about them!

Nope - there just isn't anywhere to put a trunk; the fuel tank occupies all the space above the frame, and the spare tire occupies all the space below the frame. There simply isn't anywhere to package a trunk.

Even more rare than the C2 convertible luggage rack was the one for the coupe (and there was a GM accessory coupe rack available), used more for skis than luggage.

I believe the president of the Quebec chapter of the NCRS has a rack on his coupe, the only way I know this is he is a fraternity brother of my fathers and bout the car in college.
