Hello,
My name is Thom Castrovince and I'd like to share with you all a really great day...

That was last Wednesday. Intercity was delivering my 1965 roadster - my first Corvette - the car I spent the spring and summer looking for. It was a truly great day! Here's the scoop on the car... 327/350 4 speed (all original to the best of my knowledge), fairly recent repaint - original Rally Red, factory sidepipes (and I agree with the thread that they are far better than any radio!), matching hardtop. As far as I can tell so far, I think the only "wrong" parts on the car are the '68 rallye wheels, the '67 headrest seats, and the Hurst shifter. But I like the look of the wheels, the seats are in good shape, and I need all the help I can get trying to remember how to shift smoothly!

Here's the centerfold shot...

I figured waiting 45 years for my first Corvette was long enough. I've been lurking on this forum for several weeks - and the information shared among you is mind boggling. My nervousness about owning a 40 year old car is greatly reduced knowing there are so many folks here who know so much about these cars. I'm sure you'll be bailing me out before long.
Long enough post for now. Glad to join the ranks of those who are lucky enough to own such great cars!

A toast to my new '65! - "clink"
Cheers! Thom

SCWEEEEEEEEEEEET Ride!!!

Welcome to the place to be, don't be a stranger and ask away. Don't worry about that :D , it'll probably never go away. Just remember to:w at all the other people lucky enough to have a Vette;)

Hey Thom,

Congratulations on the beautiful roadster!!
Enjoy her in good health, and welcome to a great place!

These cars are magical.

Here's to the beginning of a time-tested and proven love affair....one that everyone here has.

Welcome and enjoy the car.

The only problems with corvettes is that it seems you cant have just one.Youll see.

Ps your car looks spectacular in the photos you have shown
Larry

I agree! I want another one!!!!

GREAT looking car!! :beer

Wow. It is Gorgeous!
That must be a heck of a great feeling.

Welcome and enjoy the car

Hi! Thom

Now you have gone and done it, you have caught the Corvette disease and I hate to inform you that there is no cure. What a great looking Corvette and the fun is just about to start.

Congratulations on you purchase!

Welcome to :CAC

Beautiful car!!! As you can see i'm a little partial towards '65's with sidepipes myself.
:)
The headrest seats look great too. I've considered adding them to mine in the future.

Has the big silly grin left your face yet since the car was delivered?
;LOL

There are LOTS of very nice and very knowlegeable people on this forum so if you have any questions don't hestitate to ask. I just got my '65 coupe in March and I wouldn't know what I would do without all the help I've gotten on here.
Like you, my '65 is my first Vette and it's been my lifelong dream to have her. As one or two others have already mentioned, the problem now is you will want another one! I waited almost 40 years for this first one and now my wife is totally converted to a Vette girl and wants a C4 so soon enough there will be two Vettes in our garage. I sure can't complain about that though.

Welcome aboard! Great looking ride (like Barry I DO admit to being fond of 65 Verts sporting sidepipes ;) When I first brought mine home, I remember thinking "yeah, that BB hood on a SB car is the one glaring 'incorrect' thing about the car, wonder how long 'till I change it . . but it does kinda look cool" and now, unless I decide to pursue an NCRS flight, I don't see me ever wanting it gone.

As for driving a 40 year old car, the folks around here and in the hobby elsewhere will step up and lend a hand, even visit your house and help you fix it - better than any local mechanic can. Enjoy that sweet ride!

that's the truth! When i was still having major problems with my timing one member was going to drive down from NY to help me. I was able to get the issue mostly resolved before he came so i saved him a trip but the offer on his part was VERY generous.

Beautiful ride! When I first got my car I was a little nervous about driving it for fear of breaking something I couldn't fix. And then a few things went wrong that I was able to fix myself and voila! I'm a certified old 'vette mechanic! Seriously, it was amazing how much I remember from my youth about working on these cars. Enjoy the heck out of yours!

Hi Thom

What a beautiful Vette! :D I love the sidepipes on my 65 roadster as well. Funny, I bought mine with a Hurst shifter on it too. I did replace the shifter lever with a bolt on (two bolts - very easy) repro of the original shifter. Bought if from Corvette Central (along with tons of other parts over the years).
Oh yes, welcome to CAC :CAC , theres a lot of experienced people here!

Welcome aboard Thom. Your new '65 reminds me of the one I had in the early '70s. I know you will enjoy it and the Corvette Action Center.

Tom

Beautiful car, sits real pretty. Seeing it come out of that trailer is quite a suprise, but Christmas is still almost 3 months away! :)

Congratulations on a great car! Nice to see mid-year fever is still going strong.

Welcome to the forum as an owner, what everyone else has said about the guys in here and their knowledge is true...these guys are so helpful and friendly, it's amazing.
May your ride always be in tune, may the sun hit you in the face often and may the "bears" smile as you cruise by. And don't forget to save the :w

Good luck on the great looking car.

I bought my 65 3 years ago. To this day as I walk away from it I can't help but look back at it.
When I get home from work (if I didn't drive it to work) I open the garage door and look at it.
;) Life is good.

Mark
