1966,and a 1962 thats almost complete
Well as I had said before the 66 has been ignored during the build of the 62,and I have to start correcting some tiny problems that have been neglected .

I just ordered every thing I think I need to rebuild my steering column (NON TELE) and wanted to see if anybody has done it recently and wanted to give me some tips or suggestions.

I rebuilt mine over the winter. It's pretty straight forward. I like to take photos along the way for reference, it's paid off in the past as I have referred to the photos later when I swore I wouldn't need to. I found a lot of broken plastic that was causing my turn signal cancellation to be troublesome. Once the new stuff was in there it works really sweet! Getting the shaft back into the steering box and the steering wheel hub back on the other end of the shaft in the exact same locations they were in when you took them off is key to saving you some hassles with a crooked steering wheel. It's a great time to put some fresh paint on everything. Make sure you lubricate the top bearing real good. I had to disassemble mine and lube it again due to squeaking.

If you don't have it apart yet you might find one of the tangs on the hub end of the tube broken off or ready to... Lots of people use the steering wheel as a crutch to get in and out and it causes these tangs/tabs to break over time... I ended up buying a new tube.. they are about 100 if I remember correctly if you have to replace it.. Other than that I had no surprises... Oh you have to push the pins out of the turnsigal connector to route it if I remember correctly... Some one correct me it's been a while since I slept... Dave..

Thanks for the info.I did purchase a new tupe on the suggestion of paragon's order taker as i used to pull on the column to get settled in the seat.We have a show coming up October 20th,And this is a show I look foward to as its a GM muscle car show and a swap meet. After the show I will tackle the column and also the clutch and brake pedal rebuild as the clutch has some slop in it.
